Like most imaginative professions the question of a characterised success in writing is not easy to boil down into one definitive answer.

There is a difference between contentment and self-complacency. In the first case, we learn to be happy in the conditions we find ourselves in. In the second case, you merely settle for where you are without an interest in doing something more.

As writers we should always strive for our best. It is a good idea to set a small possible goal for the short term with possibly a one and six year plan in place for where we would like to be. This goal can be reset each year.

The trouble many writers have is they set their goals so great they may not be able to achieve them, or they make the goal sacrosanct they miss out on life in pursuing of the goal. Should they actually reach the goal, the effect of reaching the apex often serves as a pin to pop an inflated balloon. For some, the supreme goal they have chosen leaves them feeling empty because they never understood the need for contentment. Once the ‘supreme goal’ is realized the author has nothing more to look forward to and they struggle through issues related to their overall motive.

By learning the fine art of contentment while refusing to be complacent will serve you well as you wrestle with issues of personal writing success.

What is unique article marketing? The answer is quite simple. It is when you submit unique articles to the article directories,websites, and blogs. Simple enough right! Let me explain further.

Unique articles must not be essentially the same article with just a few words changed. It must be more unique than that. The search engines will easily detect if you’re articles are basically the same. Here is where you must write your articles with unique content.

The title must be unique. This is very important. I suggest a keyword tool to help you put keywords in your article titles. There are many free keyword tool sites and some that charge a fee but they are well worth it. You can have a great unique article but your readers must be able to find you. I also suggest long tailed keywords. They are more effective most of the time because the competition is very stiff with the top keywords. This is a topic for another lesson but for now we will stick with unique article marketing. Here is the key point make each article title unique and relevant to your article and include different keywords in each title.

Here is another key unique article marketing strategy. Maake articles at least 30% unique. Simple enough. It will take longer to make your articles unique but well worth the time. Last but not least is a often overlooked unique article marketing tip. You must and I repeat you must make your resource boxes with unique content. By this I mean use different keywords and domain names in them. What this means is to insert different domains related to your articles in your resource boxes. When you do this you will help the different domains get backlinks which will drive your sites higher up the rankings.

Writing articles as I am sure many of you know is a very common way of exploding the amount of back links that you have heading to your site. In hypothesis, the more of these back links we are able to obtain, the more hits our site should experience. There are however some very important things to take into consideration when writing and submitting your articles as you do not want to be blowing away your time and you do not want your web site to get dismissed by the major search engines or put in some sort of sandbox.

The first thing to remember is that Rome was not built in a day. What I mean is if you have a new website, about for example weight loss, you may want to reach the top ten in Google for your keywords within say six months. You hear that one way to do this is by building up good number of back links to this weight loss site. You think that the more the jollier and start pounding out one article after the other and are very proud of yourself after the first month because you were able to write fifty articles all pointing to your new weight loss site.

I believe this approach to be totally wrong. The weight loss websites which are in the top ten of Google have probably been around for quite a number of years and will without doubt have a number of quality back links. If your site sticks around for a long time and you continue to build up its back links it will go higher and higher in the search engines over time.

The one thing you do not want to do is to raise any red flags with the search engines. A new site which has eight hundred back links after one month could raise this red flag. The search engines will now probably not trust this site and could easily put it in some sort of sandbox until it decides whether it is kosha or not.

In my judgment it is important to build up the number of back links to a new website reasonably slowly. When writing articles, I would personally only write one article with a link to a new website per week. Of course if you have ten websites, you are able to write ten articles if you only decide to have one link on each article etc.

I also think that it is very worthwhile to only submit the same article to around five or six of the different article directories. I would submit the article in total to around twenty-two article directories but would have around four variations of it etc. The differences in each article are not massive but are big enough to make it more original. There is a big thing being debated at the moment in webmaster circles about the potential damage that can be caused by duplicate content. From what I have read, everybody seems to have a different opinion on this subject. My opinion is that it is better to be safe than sorry, therefore why take the risk? It would be good however if the major search engines could clarify their position on the subject, but lets face it, that is never going to happen.

In closing, my advice is to enjoy writing articles, have patience, build up the number of back links slowly and to submit unique variations of the same article to the directories.
