Online business opportunities are by far the best work from home business opportunities out there. Why? Well, I’ll start off by telling you about two of the biggest disadvantages of traditional home based business that are not built online:
1) The majority of work at home businesses that aren’t primarily based online require face to face meetings with customers and prospects for selling and for other promotional purposes.
This sounds like an obvious statement to someone well versed in the world of home based businesses of the past. But to those of us who are new to working for ourselves, it’s probably the most important thing overlooked when going into business, regardless of the type or size of the business. And there’s nothing wrong with this facet of working from home. Of course, the great skill of being able to sell anything to anyone is an exceptional skill and brings along with it a number of possible opportunities to succeed in life. But most of us just don’t have this talent and could not be forced into selling something in person, even with the promise of an attractive income. Thus, there are very few successful salespeople, leaving a small, skilled minority with high incomes. Unfortunately, most home based business endeavors will fail without the aid of the internet.
2) Using the internet takes away the awkwardness of selling things to people you know.
Many traditional work from home companies will tell you to make a list of your friends and family right after you sign up for their opportunity. Now, many of these companies have stellar products, but that doesn’t make your family and friends the most qualified potential customers out there. They very likely will have little need for whatever it is you’re trying to sell them. What’s worse, both you and your friends feel extremely uncomfortable when you try to rope them into some opportunity.
In contrast, the internet allows you to reach more targeted prospects in a shorter amount of time, with the feeling of little or no rejection. You never see or hear from the people that say “no” to you. You only hear from those who say “yes” or who say “I’m interested. Tell me more.” This is extremely powerful because it allows someone who has an interest in sales but lacks the interest or ability to prospect in person to succeed in a work from home opportunity.
Naturally there will be those who insist on the value and merit of doing business strictly in person and these people will criticize using the internet as a primary tool. These traditionalists, who enjoy the rapport and the feelings of satisfaction they get from making a sale face to face, have always been able to do business in person because of their people skills and sales skills. However, this method of working from home, albeit a rewarding one, takes time, and most of us are looking for the quickest, most viable way of making money in the here and now. Families need to be taken care of and there are bills to pay, not to mention unexpected financial crises to consider. We need to find real ways of working from home, either part time in addition to a full time job, or as our sole means of income. With the usual stresses of life, adding the prospect of having to sell face to face, either to strangers or to those we know, isn’t something that excites most of us. Prospecting involves networking, expanding your business contacts and selling your products or services to as many new customers as possible. All of this obviously takes time, which most of us need more of, not less. The convenience and great potential for success that comes with working from the comfort and privacy of home is a very attractive proposition.
The numerous advantages of an online work from home business are simply unrivaled as the internet and other technological advances make it possible to prosper in a variety of interesting, diverse arenas.
